Course objectives
By the end of this intensive program, you will be able to:
- Define and identify various types of unacceptable behaviour in the workplace
- Outline the costs to organisations of not adequately managing workplace bullying behaviour.
- Identify legal compliance requirements in relation to workplace bullying behaviours.
- Develop a comprehensive risk management approach to workplace bullying behaviour tailored to your workplace.
Course content
- Explain terms such as ‘workplace bullying', ‘workplace discrimination', ‘workplace harassment' and ‘workplace violence' etc. What constitutes workplace bullying behaviour and what does not?
- Outline incidence and prevalence of workplace bullying behaviour with emphasis on Australia.
- Exploration of factors contributing to workplace bullying behaviours.
- Discuss costs / consequences (organisational and individual) of bullying behaviour in the workplace.
- Discuss implications of not managing bullying behaviour in the workplace. Presentation of case studies.
- Explain (briefly) law and revise in-house policy (if required) in relation to workplace bullying behaviour and the responsibilities of various stakeholders.
- The Risk Management approach to workplace bullying behaviour.
- Explain in-house reporting system and what individual and group responsibilities are regarding follow-up.
- Facilitated discussion about any local issues and concerns.
