Nuts and Bolts of a Successful Entrepreneur (Train the Trainer)       

 

Background

 

Following discussions with senior Human Resources and Training staff from around Australia, it is with pleasure that we can present this program for discussion.  This concept paper outlines the ‘nuts and bolts of a successful entrepreneur' (aka Trainer the Trainer) training approach to be implemented for current and potential trainers.

 

The purpose of the training is to ensure all participants have been exposed to the essentials requirements and methodologies of being a successful trainer. Hence, the name of the training course being titled ‘nuts and bolts of a successful entrepreneur'. Participants will be trained on the methodology that trainers are not born, they are made. 

 

It is proposed that this program be delivered over a period of 4 days, using various learning methodologies.

 

Who should attend

 

This program has been designed and developed for current trainers and staff who have been identified as potential candidates with the capability to progress to a trainer position.

 

Key Subject Areas and Learning Outcomes

 

  • The Training Cycle  
  • The four stage training cycle that all successful trainers must be familiar with.

 

  • The Adult Learner  
  • The adult learner is different from the child learner. This should be reflected in the design, method and delivery of a training event.
  • The learning behaviors and approaches of an adult learner will be explored.
  • This section will be based on Winston Churchill's quote "I love to learn but I hate being taught'.

 

  • Training Methods  
  • Different training methods will be explored. Case studies and role plays to identify which method/s would be appropriate in different scenarios will be implemented.
  • The advantages and limitations of each training method will also be discussed.
  • Examples of a couple of the training methods are one on one coaching. Discussion, experimental, on the job etc.

 

  • Controlling Nerves  
  • Nerves caused by the fear of speaking in front of people is normal
  • Nerves in moderation are beneficial. Nerves get the adrenalin flowing and ensure that body and mind are ready to give their best performance.
  • Participants will learn how to control nerves through preparation of material, preparing for the audience and preparing for themselves.

  • The role of a facilitator is to make the participants think and learn through reflection.
  • Different questioning techniques to make the leaner think and learn.

  • Situations of when a trainer should be lecturer and facilitator.

 

  • The Verbal Clues  
  • The significance of verbal cues such as the Pause, verbal signals and rhetorical questioning and how they help learners follow a presentation.

 

  • The Presenter's Voice  
  • The use of the voice in presentations can result in a presentation being successful or unsuccessful.
  • Participants will learn how to put a shine in their voice and enthusiastic. Video presentations of successful trainers will be utilized to demonstrate this importance.
  • Role plays where all participants must participate will also be implemented.

 

  • The Presenter's Body Language  
  • The importance of body language (eye contact, gestures, facial expression, posture etc) in a trainer
  • The importance of dress mannerisms will be discussed

She is well experienced in the field of corporate HR, training and Vocational Education as she has worked for Australia's largest corporate firms and taught many vocational courses through Tafe community colleges and International Schools.
