Post Release Indigenous Sustainable Employment
BSI Learning is a contracted STEP ERS provider funded by DEEWR .In NSW we currently run a program to assist Indigenous people find sustainable long term employment.
The objective of the PRISE (Post Release Indigenous Sustainable Employment) program is to provide substantial and specialised assistance to indigenous ex-offenders throughout NSW to stimulate sustainable employment opportunities.. These particular clients are arguably the most marginalised group due to employment history and non-vocational issues such as transitory life style, educational standards, cultural influences and custodial experience.
The aim of this program therefore is to increase sustainable employment opportunities and reduce the rates of recidivism by providing a holistic package of pre-employment and placement support services combined with employer incentives which include on the job and off the job mentoring support, cultural assistance and wage incentive payments.
The program is broken up into four phases with mentoring underpinning all phases:
- Recruitment
- Pre-employment- employment readiness
- Employment Placement
- Mentoring
The goal of the PRISE program is not just to get someone into a job, it is to keep them there, and it is for this reason that our program contains case management and mentoring for a period of 12 months for general employment, or 2 years for a traineeship.

We are also there to assist the employer with any problems that they may identify. Our aim is to ensure that the employment is as trouble free as possible to ensure our participants are able to maintain their employment.
